If you have been in network marketing and on the internet, I am sure you have heard the words social media, the new way of building your network marketing business. So, what in the world is social media and how does it help us?

Social media just means to be social on certain websites. Some of these sites are Facebook, Twitter, and My Space. You reach out and simply connect with people. Find people that have similar interest as you and be friends with them. These websites don’t cost anything to join, so take advantage of them.

You want to brand yourself as a leader. Any tip of information you learn that you feel would be helpful to the community, share, and people will start viewing you as a leader. When you do this, people will view your profile, they start learning about the real you. People will learn that they have more in common with you, and then just network marketing. When people get to know you, it builds trust. If it were I, I would rather do business with someone I trust and know a little bit about than someone that I don’t know anything about.

People like to talk and pass along information. If I ate at a really good restaurant, I would tell my friends. The same rule applies here. If I create some information that people like and enjoy, they will tell their friends, this gets your name out into the community and your reputation builds in a positive light.

You want to promote YOURSELF, not your biz opp! The worst thing you could do is come off like a salesperson, pushing your product or opportunity. No one likes to be sold. This is such a big turn off and people will just flat out ignore you and what you have to say. This is just like calling a cold lead and asking them to join your business without even getting to know them first.

You want people to look at your profile page to get to know you better. If they like what they see, they will poke around more and eventually click on your website. Since they already like you, the chances of them entering their information are pretty good. This is a great way to generate leads for your business and it eliminates you from having to chase people around and cold calling them. People are contacting you first and this is free to implement.
