If there were only 3 tips to success, they would be; Training, Training and more Training! The concept of MLM is to be able to duplicate yourself. That means that everything you learn, you must be capable of teaching to others. However, if you are not properly trained, you will likely not have success. What makes this industry fun is that there are not too many things that you must be really good at learning. But those few will be the difference between success and failure.

The first area of development is your retail business. Very simply put, GET CUSTOMERS!! Get as many customers as you can. Companies that thrive are ones that have not the best compensation plan, or the best trips for top distributors. They are the ones with the best products/services. So, until you have a strong customer base, you really do not have a business. It would be like the store down the street from your house opening the doors and the same day try to sell a franchise of his new business.

If you are intent on being successful, please realize one very important fact. These are not designed to be get rich quick schemes. There are companies that claim that they are, and should raise a huge red flag. This is no different that the corner store. You must follow a path that should be laid out to you by someone higher up in your organization. Do not try to reinvent the wheel! If your upline is making a lot of money, would it not make sense that if you do what they do, you will make money, too? THE ANSWER IS YES THIS MAKES SENSE!!

Now, this is also the beginning of you marketing your business. As you learn how to promote your business, adding customers will happen. The better you market, the more customers you will have. The more customers you have, the more money you make. This really is not a tough premise to comprehend. It is no different than any retail store that you see everyday. Without customers, you will go out of business. It is really that simple. If you are affiliated or thinking about a company that does not stress retail customers, please run away! This is a company that is not going anywhere, but out of business. The Direct Sales Association is adamant about all MLM companies having retail as their primary concern and adding distributors is secondary.

So, while getting trained to market yourself, you will be learning how to build a retail base of customers. Not too hard, so far. The next step is to learn everything there is to know about sponsoring new distributors. Please take this seriously, as this is the ultimate crux of your business, if you wish to build an empire.

Sponsoring someone that you just presented a plan to is now very excited about their future. You did that by being prepared. The same preparation is required to sponsor them. It must be seamless or they will lose confidence in you. It must appear that you have done this hundreds of times, so get properly trained to make that happen. Again, the more confidence your new partner has in you, the more likely they will stay excited and involved. Just as you were, they are now caught up in the excitement of their new found potential wealth. If you are not trained to help them to the next step, two things will happen. They will quickly lose their enthusiasm and they will likely think that this is hard. It is not hard, it is a business.

Once you have a strong base of retail, some distributors that are building their business and you feel trained, get more training! Now is not the time for you to rest on your laurels and relax. If you repeat the process over and over, it will not be long before you will be quitting your job and relaxing on the beach! Do not get frustrated if this is not a quick process. Again, no different than the corner store. It will take time but if you are diligent and repeat the process, you will be handsomely rewarded.
