The mostly cheerful proprietors of Stars Hollow businesses generally relied upon word of mouth to maintain their businesses. The small, sleepy Connecticut suburb enjoyed a healthy tourist presence but would havecertainly benefited from an online marketing firm. If just a few of them had used Twitter for business promotion, they could have dramtically boosted their revenue streams.

1. Luke Danes – Luke owned the diner, appropriately named Luke’s Diner. Most if not all of Stars Hollow’s people came to Luke’s every day to eat. Luke also enjoyed an uptick in business during events such as the Spring Fling or the Fall Festival occurred. If someone could’ve had the patience to explain Luke to use a computer and then Twitter, he definitely could have benefited from a healthy Twitter following.

2. Taylor Doose – Taylor ran, among other businesses in Stars Hollow, Doose’s Market, a general grocery store in the middle of town. As the Town Selectman for many years, he should have been clearly aware of the advantages of Twitter. He could have advertised in-store specials and built up a loyal following of those who appreciated his particular brand of old man humor.

3. Miss Patty – Miss Patty ran a dance studio, and was the one of the town’s main gossipers. She was almost as efficient as Twitter, as anything that you didn’t wish to keep secret could be told to her and basically be as good as spread around town. She had a long career in show business and Twitter would have been a wonderful platform for her, as she could have broadcast endlessly to her adoring fans.

The business owners of Stars Hollow, while prosperous, could always have been more successful, had they used the technology available to them. Using Twitter for business would have been a great way for them to build their businesses and not have to be so dependent on the tourist trade. At the very least, it would’ve provided something else for Patty, Tilly, and Babette to joke about every morning.
